Wheat germ oil is known for its high vitamin E content of around 190 mg per 100 ml. It also contains omega-6 fatty acids and secondary plant compounds. This valuable oil is obtained from the tiny germs of the wheat grain by gentle pressing. Temperatures above 40°C are avoided during production to preserve the valuable ingredients.
Wheat germ oil is classified as a food supplement. The daily consumption amount of two teaspoons, about 6.5 g, should not be exceeded.
Due to its low smoke point, the oil should not be heated. It is best used in cold dishes to preserve its ingredients. Its grain-like taste makes it easy to integrate into everyday meals.
Use and Application
Wheat germ oil has two main uses: conscious nutrition and body care. For both, the high vitamin E content is particularly valued.
In the Kitchen
Wheat germ oil is suitable for vegetable, rice, pasta and potato dishes. Important: add it only after cooking and slight cooling, so heat does not damage the valuable ingredients. It can also be added to muesli, yogurt, salad dressings, fresh juices, shakes or smoothies.
Body Care
Wheat germ oil is also used in cosmetics because of its valuable ingredients. It can be applied directly to the skin and massaged in. It is popular as a massage and body care oil and can also be used for scalp and hair care.
Ingredients / Composition
Natural wheat germ oil contains approx. 19% saturated fatty acids, approx. 14% monounsaturated fatty acids, approx. 57% polyunsaturated omega-6 fatty acids and approx. 9% omega-3 fatty acids.
Vitamin E
Vitamin E contributes to the protection of cells from oxidative stress.
Origin and Production
This valuable oil is produced by gently pressing small wheat germs. Large quantities are required to obtain only a few liters of oil, which is reflected in the price. Production takes place at around 39°C.
Conventional Wheat Germ Oil
Our wheat germ oil is not an organic product. It is obtained from wheat germ from conventional agriculture because this allows us to meet our quality and availability requirements.
Important Notes
People with gluten intolerance may react sensitively to wheat germ oil. Store the oil tightly closed, dark and cool. Because of the low smoke point, use it only in cold dishes such as salad dressings, muesli, shakes or dips.
