General Information About Dulse Flakes
Dulse flakes are still something of an insider tip in Germany.

Dulse flakes are red algae with an intense, salty sea flavor. In countries such as France and Norway they are already used in many culinary creations, while here they are still a specialty. Thanks to their nutrient density, dulse flakes are often described as a superfood.
Red Algae / Dulse Algae
Dulse algae are among the softer and more delicate seaweed varieties. They grow in cool coastal waters and can be used in raw food cuisine because they require no elaborate processing.
Use and Application of Dulse Flakes
Dulse flakes are made for the kitchen. They can be soaked in water for a few minutes to regain some elasticity or used dried as a topping and seasoning. They are excellent for refining salads, dips, soups, stews and vegetable dishes. Because of their intense taste and naturally high iodine content, they should be used sparingly.
Dulse can also be cooked, fried or gently steamed. Roasted until crisp, it develops a flavor that is reminiscent of bacon. With a protein content of around 15%, dulse is also interesting for vegan cooking and fitness-oriented diets.
