Organic ground psyllium husks

Psyllium seeds consist of a seed core and a husk. The fine psyllium husk is especially rich in mucilage and fibre, giving it a very strong swelling capacity and the ability to bind large amounts of water.

Use and application

The most important rule when consuming psyllium husks is: liquid. As a guide, stir about one teaspoon (approx. 5 g) into around 200 ml water and drink another two glasses of liquid afterwards. One to two teaspoons per day are commonly used. Start small and increase slowly according to your personal tolerance.

Ground psyllium husks can also be mixed into muesli, smoothies or juices, or used as a partial flour substitute in cakes, bread and pastries. Always increase the amount of liquid accordingly.

Origin and quality

Psyllium husks come from the plantain plant Plantago ovata, native to India. After harvesting, the husks are separated from the seeds by air separation. Our product has 99% purity, is checked in German laboratories and is filled by hand in Germany.

At the beginning, mild abdominal discomfort may occur due to the high fibre content while the intestine gets used to it.

Unlike psyllium seeds, the husks lack the seed core, which leads to a higher swelling capacity. Psyllium seeds also contain fat and proteins, which cause them to pass through the intestine more quickly.
Psyllium husks should always be taken with plenty of fluids. One teaspoon (approx. 5 g) is mixed with 200–250 ml of water. Afterwards, one to two more glasses of water should be drunk to ensure smooth digestion. Alternatively, they can be used in muesli, smoothies, or baked goods.
Psyllium husks contain soluble fiber and mucilage that promote digestion. They swell in the intestines, support healthy bowel function, and protect the intestinal lining with a mucous film from harmful substances. The effect typically begins after 12 to 24 hours.
Yes, psyllium husks can be used as a flour substitute in cakes, bread, and pastries. The amount of liquid in the recipe should be adjusted accordingly, as the husks bind a lot of water and swell.
The psyllium husks come from certified organic cultivation in India. After harvest, the seeds are separated from the husks, and for the ground variant, these are finely milled. The organic psyllium husks are tested in Germany and bottled without additives.
At the beginning of intake, mild abdominal discomfort may occur as the intestines need to adjust to the high fiber content. After a short adjustment period, these symptoms usually disappear, especially with a gradual increase in dosage.
